Syed Nizamul Haque - Educator & Author, Founder of Assam School of Education (1957-2021)

Syed Nizamul Haque (24 November 1957 – 19 October 2021) was an Indian educator, author, and innovator known for his contributions to the field of printing technology and education in Assam. He introduced the Automatic Flatbed Printing Machine to Assam, enhancing the local printing industry with advanced technology.

Early Life and Education Born in Kacharihat, Golaghat, Assam, to parents Late Syed Muhibul Haque and Late Syeda Aabida Khatun, Nizamul was raised in a culturally enriched environment. He completed his primary education at Kachirihat Prathamik Bidyalaya in Golaghat and his secondary education at Dergaon Higher Secondary School in Dergaon, Assam. He pursued higher studies at Cotton College, Guwahati, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Demoria College, Guwahati.

Career Nizamul Haque founded the “Assam School of Education,” a pivotal institution in regional educational publishing. He served as the Founding General Secretary of the All Assam Press Owners Association and as the administrator of Dispur English Academy. He was also a governing member of Manav Kalyan Janiya Vidyalaya Trust in Kahilipara, Guwahati. His professional expertise included assembling and selling offset printing solutions, significantly impacting Assam’s educational and printing sectors.

Literary Contributions Nizamul authored several influential books, including “Paritaktya Naari” and “Saddam Hussain & World War 2,” published by Book House. He also created a notable educational book series featuring titles such as “Dapoon How We Answered” and “Eco-Club and Environmental Science,” which have been integral in shaping the curriculum for various subjects across Assam’s schools.

Awards and Recognitions In 2007, he was honored with the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Award for his extensive contributions to education and society. His participation in significant forums like TERI, the National Conference of Dalit Writers, and collaborations with several national education and environmental councils underscored his commitment to educational advocacy.

To honor his memory and continue his legacy, the Syed Nizamul Haque Memorial Awards have been established, recognizing exceptional contributions in the fields of education, printing technology, and community service.

Philanthropy Syed Nizamul Haque was deeply involved in philanthropic efforts, offering scholarships and awards to meritorious but financially disadvantaged students across Assam.

Personal Life Syed Nizamul Haque was married to Syeda Mohsina Begum in 1994. The couple had two children: a son, Syed Mehfooz Raiza, and a daughter, Syeda Tanfia Nizam.

Death Syed Nizamul Haque passed away on 19 October 2021 due to prostate cancer, leaving behind a legacy of educational advancement and community service.
